It’s Personal: Three Women on the Gear They’re Riding

We recently gathered at Northstar California Resort for Burton Girls Ride Day, our favorite part of the Burton Mountain Festival. As a group of women who ride and care about their gear, we were curious to see what some of the ladies were riding. Kimmy Fasani and Burton Ambassadors Meg Kee and Kristen Fejtek talked us through their setups from head to toe. Hear it from them, in their own words.

Meg Kee

“My snowboarding goals are nothing huge, just to enjoy my season and get as many laps in as possible!”

“I love the Talent Scout because it is so responsive. The PurePop Camber gives you an extra boost when you’re playing around in the park.”

“I absolutely love the anon. WM1 goggle! I usually use the Polar Smoke lens because my home mountain is very sunny.”

  • “The Prowess Jacket has to be my favorite jacket of all time. It is functional with pockets for everything you need to stash, and the fleece collar keeps my face warm if I forget my face mask.”

“This season I am filming for Absinthe Films again and I am hoping to continue to progress my riding in big mountains. I will spend my season in California, Japan, British Columbia, and Alaska.”

“The most important thing for me when choosing gear is that it will keep me warm and dry. Burton’s [ak] line does that.”

“I want my outerwear to be reliable, but I also want it to look somewhat feminine, which is why I designed the [ak] 3L Kimmy Bib Pant. An added bonus with this bib is that it has a drop seat, meaning there are zippers on the side of your legs so you can pee without having to strip all the way out of the bib.”

“My snowboarding goals for the season are to continue to advance my skills and have as much fun as possible. As a snowboard instructor, a goal of mine is to never lose my passion for the sport or see it as just work. I want to keep spreading the love!”

"I chose my gear because it is all so versatile, kind of like me. I love sunny SoCal park laps, but I also love stormy weather and riding through the trees and down steeps. I pick lightweight and breathable fabrics for warmer days, and I size up so that I can fit more layers underneath on a colder day."

“I love my Burton Sadie Jacket! My favorite of all Burton gear. It’s so versatile that I can wear it while riding in the morning, and around town at night. I also love it because it has the same name as my dog.”

  • “I’m a roll out of bed, look out the window, and go kind of girl. I guess you can say that I like to have a plain and clean looking style so that I don’t find myself too distracting.”

There you have it: Three different styles, three ways to gear up. Maybe this will inspire you to look at your own gear and reevaluate what’s working and what isn’t. Staying warm, dry, and comfortable is key for anyone who wants to snowboard all season long, no matter what the sky is doing.
