Meet the New Limited Edition Family Tree Boards for 2026

There’s a Nest in the Family Tree. Bold & Colorful Bird-Themed Boards for 2026

Bird is the word, and 2026 limited edition Family Tree boards put that phrase front and center, with seven bold, bird-themed topsheets and equally eye-popping bases. These graphics aren’t random; they were carefully selected to match the character of the boards that bear them. But new artwork isn’t the only news, the Family Tree lineup continues to innovate and inspire, with new shapes for specific terrain and conditions.

Come fly the coop and get the scoop on this year’s flock..

Peregrin falcons are the fastest animals on earth, achieving speeds of over 200 miles-per-hour. And while you are unlikely to achieve that speed riding the ‘26 Sketch Artist, the sintered WFO base may give you a fighting chance.

This snowboard, which is new to the Family Tree in 2026, is highly agile, fast, and versatile, just like the beloved bird of prey on its topsheet. It’s a freestyle-tuned all mountain/powder board with 18-millimeters of taper, directional shape and flex, and wider-than-average width. The progressive sidecut delivers smooth turn entries with rocket ship-like exits. For a more nimble, zippy ride, size down. For a stable, responsive ride, size up.

It features a 700G SuperFly II™ wood core, Dualzone™ EGD™ along the heel and toe edges, 45-degree carbon highlights, and the unlimited adjustability of The Channel. Grab this deck and get sketchy (but like, in a responsible, controlled kind of way).

The crested ibis that adorns the Smooth Operator represents graceful speed, exactly what you’ll need to float through bottomless pow when the snow’s stacking up. This collaborative effort between Burton and legendary Team rider Masanori Takeuchi utilizes 3D shaping as well as a full-length Channel insert to optimize for the deep. The smooth operator floats at all speeds and will track through wide powder turns with stability.

The Smooth Operator features our exceptional Dragonfly™ 600G snowboard Core - one of the lightest we make - in addition to a sintered WFO base, Multizone™ EGD™ construction, and Carbon Highlights glass. The result is a responsive, floaty, freeride deck that’s optimized for surfing and slashing pow with the best of them.

First introduced in 2023 as a collaborative effort between Burton and Selema Masekela, the Alekesam has a unique, surf-inspired shape and large size range which have given it tremendous staying power amongst core riders. No doubt about it, this board is different, but that’s also why it’s magical. Alekesam returns in 2026, emblazoned with an inviting macaw parrot, a symbol of its playful, all mountain character.

Under the hood, all of Burton’s flagship board tech is at work including a lightweight Super Fly II® 700G dual-species wood core, Triax™ fiberglass with Carbon I-Beam™ for torsional stiffness, a sintered WFO base, and of course, The Channel® binding mountain system for unlimited stance configurations.

For riders who love slashing pow, wherever you can find it, snag this one up quick before it disappears.

Burton family Tree high fidelity

True to its name, the High Fidelity is all about precision and clarity in your riding. For 2026, the board remains unchanged in construction, carrying forward its powerful, directional freeride DNA with nothing but fresh new artwork. The bold vulture graphic matches its style—at home in the mountains, aggressive, versatile, and ready to pick apart bold lines.

Equipped with our Super Fly II™ 700G core, 45-degree Carbon Highlights, and a sintered WFO base, the High Fidelity gives riders a dynamic balance of performance and power. Its aggressive freeride shape, 7-millimeters of taper, and 25-millimeter setback provides a centered feel, while directional float is ready for changing snow conditions.

Returning for its second season, the Channel Surfer continues to ride the wave of innovation. With its swallowtail shape and surf-inspired 3D nose and tail profiles, this board is all about float, surf, and catch-free glide. The 2026 edition gets new artwork featuring the puffin, a unique bird that reflects the quirky, uncommon ride of the Channel Surfer.

Its Flat Top™ bend with early-rise rocker in the nose and tail makes it playful, forgiving, and floaty, while the directional shape and twenty-five millimeters of taper keep the nose up no matter how deep it gets. Filet-O-Flex core profiling delivers a supple yet responsive feel that’s perfect in the pow. Pair that with a Super Fly II 700G core and Sintered WFO base, and you’ve got a board that's primed for primo conditions.

The roots of Family Tree reach deep into the past for the Backseat Driver, our dedicated bindingless pow-surfing board. At 140 centimeters long with a 260-millimeter waist and 25 millimeters of taper, you can bet this baby will float like a boat. No straps, no fuss, just pure, surf-inspired freedom, anywhere. The cult classic returns in 2026 unchanged in construction but refreshed with a striking Audubon bird motif topsheet.

While it may be simple, the Backseat Driver is far from basic. We built it using premium Burton snowboard tech, like our Super Fly 800G core, Triax fiberglass, and 3D shaping for powder surfing bliss. When it comes to standing sideways, nothing in the Family Tree flock flies quite like this board.

  • Riding Level: Intermediate / Expert

Pro tip: The Hometown Hero is also included in our graphic options lineup this year.

Little rippers deserve hero status too. The Kids’ Hometown Hero brings the same freeride versatility of the adult version but sized and flex-tuned for younger riders. The 2026 edition rocks the same Eagle graphic as the adult version; sharp, fast, and at home in the mountains. Can you say, “matching family quiver”?

With Directional Camber and a freeride shape, this board gives young riders everything they need to spread their wings and fly. A Super Fly 800G core, Triax glass, and sintered WFO base keep performance neck and neck with the adult version, while The Channel provides maximum stance adjustability, so they can mix it up as they continue building their skills.
