The world as we know it is facing a global climate crisis, and we all need to start acting like it.
Join us in taking action on September 20th for the Global Climate Strike. Following the lead of Greta Thunberg and students everywhere, we're closing our business to march together and send a message that we want action on the climate crisis.
- We’re closing all of our global offices and owned stores for business on Friday, September 20th so everyone can walk out and join the strike in their regions.
- We’re using all of our owned flagship stores as a gathering place on the morning of September 20th where people can make signs and walk to nearby marches.
- For 24 hours on September 20th, Burton.com will not take orders or make any sales worldwide – the site will instead re-direct to the Global Climate Strike website to help build awareness for the cause. All of our owned stores will not sell product that day and instead be a community space for strikers.
As our CEO, Donna Carpenter, said in an email to employees:
"The Amazon is literally on fire, the seas are rising and glaciers are melting. I'm proud to have Burton join Greta's movement to draw attention to this global crisis."
