Setting Camp on Washington’s San Juan Islands

When you want to get out there without having to unlock survivor mode, it’s all about location.  After scanning the coastlines of North America for our latest getaway, we found our spot right on the edge of somewhere civilized: Washington’s San Juan Islands. With Seattle and Vancouver close by, the San Juan Islands were the perfect meet up for our crew.

Time to break camp and head for a new zone.

So with the general region scoped out, all we had to do was pick a campsite. We didn’t have a plan, and didn’t pack much – just the essentials, and the new line of Durable Goods camping gear. It’s all made in collaboration with Big Agnes, and features all the tech we needed to stay comfortable, so weather was the least of our worries.

As it turned out, the islands presented a variety of conditions, with a sunny first day giving way to soggier situations. We enjoyed the sun we got, and it gave us a chance to look around. We found a suitable campsite right by the water. Room with a view, check. Open air dining room? Oh yeah. But when home is where you pitch it, why not keep the party moving? After one night at the first zone, we wandered the island looking for another. When we found it, the conditions were perfect: a great spot to jump in the water, flat ground for our tents, and plenty of room to set up a chair for our evening entertainment: sunset over the Pacific Ocean.
